9 Poems

May 29, 2021 Abigail DeLong I wrote nine poems about our pets. Here they are: Poem #1 Lolli and Cupcake were not friends when Lolli had her kittens. I was so happy, I sang a song while I jumped on the trampoline with Karlie and Susanna Delong. Lolli had her kittens, four, But suddenly, she had one more! Lolli has five kittens; they are so cute! They make me want to jump around the house and play a little flute. I am so proud of Lolli. She reminds me of Karis and Karlie! THE END Poem #2 One of the kitten's names is Taffy. Sometimes, she is very snappy. She was the third kitten born, but she cannot blow on a horn. She is a calico kitten, but she hasn't any mittens. Lolli is very proud, because sometimes, Taffy is loud. I love Taffy very much  because she is so fun to clutch! THE END Poem #3 One of the kitten's names is Truffles. He is sweet and loves to snuffle. He was the second kitten born,  but he is secretly a unicorn! With him, I like to cuddle, for he hasn...

My Poems

Thursday, May 27, 2021 From the desk of Karlie DeLong In Language Arts class at school, we were writing free verse poetry. We wrote the rough drafts one day, and our final copies the next. We made a word web to help plan it out. Well, the day before Lolli had her kittens, I wrote my rough draft about waiting for them to come. The next day, Lolli had her five babies! I was not in school that day. On Thursday, I wrote the final draft and then felt like I should write another poem, because I wasn't waiting anymore. So here they are:

Susanna and Lilly's Birthday Party

Image
Susanna  May 27, 2021 On Monday, Lilly and me had our birthday party. On our cake, we had dolls. I had a pirate and Lilly had a princess. It was very, very yummy. Lilly and Melody and their parents all came. My dad grilled breakfast on the grill. We jumped on the trampoline. I jumped with Melody and didn't fall down at all! The kids ate outside and the grown-ups ate inside. I drank Ginger Ale and it was very yummy. THE END.

Happy 14th Birthday Karis!

Happy birthday Karis! I've had so much fun watching you grow into a young woman this year.  You are so much fun to be around!  I love working with you in the kitchen and singing along to Hamilton or Pentatonics.  I am amazed at all you have learned about cake decorating and am so proud of all your creations.  You might exhaust me a bit now that you can stay up so late, but I do enjoy your company. I enjoy hearing about your friends and all that goes on in high school and I pray that you will always enjoy chatting with me.  I feel like you have learned so much about Biblical things recently and you know so much more than I did at your age.  I pray that God's Word stays important in your life always.  I really like your sweet group of friends and I am so glad that ya'll have so much fun together.  I am proud of how hard you have worked in school this year even if Algebra made me stay up way too late too many times.  Even when I was tired ...

Thursday, May 20, 2021 From the desk of Karlie DeLong The kittens are a week old! We did a photo shoot in our room and we all got to hold the one that we named. Also, Sophia learned to climb the ladder! Just kidding, but she was having fun pulling up on it.

Happy 8th birthday, Susanna!

Dear Susanna, I just love you so much!  I love your energy and joy of life and how fiercely you love everyone and everything you do.  You wear me out sometimes because I just cannot keep up with your energy but I love that God made you that way.  You are such a smart and determined and creative little girl and I love watching all the ideas that come into your head and how determined you are to do them.  You constantly surprise me by doing things that I never expected you to do be able to do!  Thank you for always being willing to entertain Sophia for me so that I can get things done.  I love how you love your baby sister so much and want to help her so much.  Thank you for always enjoying my cooking even when none of your sisters want to try my dinner.  It really means a lot to me to know that at least one of you will like dinner and makes all my work worthwhile.  Thank you for working so hard on your schoolwork this year even though I ...

Lolli's Birth Story (The Karis Version)

Image
by: Karis DeLong   This is my version of Lolli's birth story:     I woke up around seven on May 11, 2021 hearing my mom and sister talking outside my room. I heard my mom run into the garage and yell something around the lines of "Karlie, the kittens are here!!!!". My cat had been pregnant for a while and was past her due date. I waited a second for confirmation that I had heard aright and then jumped out of bed and ran to the garage as fast as I could.     My mom was picking up a dark kitten from the cold hard floor and was placing it on the bed pictured below. We were desperately scared that  Lolli had  abandoned them or something but turns out she had gone into labor again just after she had finished cleaning the first one.      Mamma put Lolli and the other kitten  in the bed and my cat started licking them and purring. Hardly had she started then another kitten came. Lolli was so busy with the others she di...
