Abigail DeLong

I wrote nine poems about our pets. Here they are:

Poem #1

Lolli and Cupcake were not friends

when Lolli had her kittens.

I was so happy, I sang a song

while I jumped on the trampoline with Karlie and Susanna Delong.

Lolli had her kittens, four,

But suddenly, she had one more!

Lolli has five kittens; they are so cute!

They make me want to jump around the house and play a little flute.

I am so proud of Lolli.

She reminds me of Karis and Karlie!

Poem #2

One of the kitten's names is Taffy.

Sometimes, she is very snappy.

She was the third kitten born,

but she cannot blow on a horn.

She is a calico kitten,

but she hasn't any mittens.

Lolli is very proud,

because sometimes, Taffy is loud.

I love Taffy very much 

because she is so fun to clutch!

Poem #3

One of the kitten's names is Truffles.

He is sweet and loves to snuffle.

He was the second kitten born,

 but he is secretly a unicorn!

With him, I like to cuddle,

for he hasn't jumped in a puddle.

Oh, dear Truffles, you are gray,

but that is because you were born that way!

You are gentle and sweet.

Holding you is quite a treat!

Poem #4

One of the kitten's names is Lucy.

She is sweet, but not a goosey.

Her fur is black, but her belly is gray.

She is cuddly, but she loves to play!

She was the first kitten born,

and she hardly ever looks forlorn.

She blends in with Lolli's spots

and she hasn't broken any pots.

Lolli tried to pick her up

and she was as light as a buttercup!

Lucy is funny,

sometimes she acts like a bunny!

Poem #5

My kitten's name is Gizmo.

She crawls really fast and she loves to go and go.

She is the loudest of the flock.

Sometimes she will sit down and gawk.

She is black and white and looks like a cow,

but instead of saying "Moo", she says "Meow!"

She is my favorite of all the kittens.

When she grows older I might give her some mittens.

Poem #6

Another kitten's name is Oreo.

She is friends with my kitten Gizmo.

She was the fifth kitten born,

and she hasn't tried eating corn.

She loves to squeal and she loves to sleep.

She can sleep all night without making a peep.

She has black spots on her fur

and while she sleeps, she likes to snore.

While she's awake, she loves to purrrrrrr,

I love her very much!

Poem #7

Lolli is a calico cat.

She loves to purr and sit on the mat.

She loves her kittens dearly,

although she hasn't had them yearly.

She is enemies with Cupcake,

but in fights, she can always escape.

She is the sweetest mother ever.

She loves her kittens in any weather.

She is brave and she is kind,

but it seems she can read your mind! 

I love Lolli!

Poem #8

Our other cat is Cupcake.

She is sweet, but she doesn't know how to bake!

Cupcake is seven years old,

and she can be very bold.

She is fun and loves to snuggle. 

She will always sit down for a cuddle.

Cupcake loves to sleep in my bed,

even though she cannot bake bread.

Her fur is brown and black and gray, 

her eyes light up to show me the way.

She is one of my best friends.

I hope our friendship will never end!

Poem #9

We have a dog named Pup-pup.

She will lick all of our food up.

She is very neat and clean,

but her eyes are brown, not green.

She is brown all over.

She can lay down in a patch of clover.

She is a very protective dog,

but I don't think she can sit on a log.

She has a nice, long tail

that doesn't look like a pail.
